I arrived in Bariloche about 8pm and was looking forward to a good meal as I had not eaten properly for a couple of days now. I met a guy on the bus staying at the same hostel, so we walked down together with an american guy that he was chatting to. We all agreed to meet for dinner at 10pm. That is the time most people start to go out here! I checked in and found my room. I was sharing with two sisters from Ireland, Eimer and Jen, and another guy who was checking out in the morning. I got chatting to the girls and we agreed to do some biking together and hang out. They were zip lining the next day, but I just wanted to chill out. Everything happening over the past few days was taking its toll. I freshened up and was keen to have a steak and some wine, so the two guys from the bus and myself looked for a good steakhouse and settled into our meal. The american was a teacher and was travelling for a few months and the other guy from germany was in IT. We chatted for a while about our journeys and life back home and then went our separate ways as I was exhausted from all the travelling and needed some sleep!
The next day was raining so the girls went off zip lining and I just stayed at the hostel and caught up on my messages and read. We went out later in the afternoon to have a treat in one of the many coffee shops serving chocolate in every form you can imagine and walked around the town for a bit before heading back.
The following day the weather had improved so we got on the bus to visit the viewpoint which gave a 365 degree view of Bariloche and the surrounding lakes and mountains it is famous for, accessible via a chair lift, and then we hired some bikes and went exploring the area. This would take about 4 hours following the trail they had given us from the map. The area was really hilly, so the ride was not always that easy as we found out when we struggled up the hills, and even had to get off at some points and walk it!!! We are so rubbish!! We passed rivers and lakes and had great views the whole time. It is a really pretty place here and is where a lot of locals have their holidays if they can afford it!! We stop off at a viewpoint for some lunch and rest for a while before carrying on for the rest of the way.

That night Camilla, the swedish girl I met in El Chalten for trekking, turned up at our hostel to find me. We were having a steak night there and I was halfway through mine, which as it was so huge meant I was finished, so I offered my steak and we caught up on what we had been doing. We decided to go horse riding the next day and booked it up. She managed to get a room in our hostel and we met the following day for our ride.
The other people on our ride were all novices, and the ride itself was not that interesting!! However we did manage to get a couple of canters in where we could by letting the others all go ahead and holding back. We headed back to the hostel and met up with the girls and all went for ice creams and cakes for a treat!! It is nearly easter so there are chocolate eggs for sale everywhere! We then wandered around the town and the lake and made a quick visit to the cathedral which had the most impressive rainbow in the entrance made by the glass door with the sunlight coming through, it was really beautiful and a lovely way to finish our visit to Bariloche in the company of wonderful friends met along the way!!!
